We offer Peer befriending when people with aphasia are discharged from hospital and active care is withdrawn, as it may help reduce depressive symptoms. Chatting with someone who truly understands what life is like with aphasia can bring empathy, support, companionship, hope, and shared lived experience.
Peer befriending has been the subject of a research trial. This study showed that it may help reduce depression in people with the language problem aphasia after stroke.
Please do contact us if you think this could be helpful for you. Peer befriending is available online and in person within Greater London.
