Buddleia has been volunteering with Aphasia Re-Connect as a virtual befriender – this is her experience:
I have been volunteering as a conversation buddy for just over a month. It’s been a challenging and rewarding experience adapting to my partner’s communication needs and finding ways to understand each other.
Aphasia Re-Connect have supported me well in learning how to do this. I’ve already learnt a lot about how conversation works and what a career in speech and language therapy might involve. I’ve also really enjoyed making a new friend.
