A Marathon Success!!
We want to say a big thank you and congratulations to Tracy, who ran the London Marathon in October.
She kindly chose to fundraise jointly for us at Aphasia Reconnect and the Stroke Association – a fantastic gift to stroke survivors with and without aphasia!

We’re also very grateful to our very own Valia Kladouchou, one of our speech and language therapists, who ran a half marathon for us also in October on top of everything else she does for us! Thank you so much Valia!!!
Accessible Information Standard
Some of our members took part in a consultation about the Accessible Information Standard.
They gave feedback about their experiences of Accessible Information in Health and Social Care settings – the Standard has been a legal requirement in these settings since 2016.

Art by Post
Some of our members took part in a Zoom art group, run by one of our peer facilitators, in the first lockdown.
They submitted some of their art and poetry to the Art by Post scheme, run by the Southbank Centre – and now it is being displayed at their exhibition at the Royal Festival Hall – amazing!

National Lottery
We are very grateful to the National Lottery Community Fund for awarding us a grant to support our services.
We do not receive any central government funding, so grants like this and your generous donations are the only things that keep us going.
It really makes a difference to us, and to our members with aphasia – thank you!!
Staffing changes
We were sorry to say goodbye to Sarah at the end of August.
However, we are glad to welcome Valia and Laura to join our small team!
City Hero Award - June 2021
We're very proud of Sally, who was awarded a City University Hero Award for her work at Aphasia Re-Connect over the last year, providing ongoing support during the pandemic as well as 43 student placements for trainee speech and language therapists!
