Advokit

Disability benefits can be long, confusing, and exhausting. People with communication needs often describe forms such as PIP as not “communication friendly.” Advokit was co-designed and tested in collaboration with 40+ people with aphasia to help make this process clearer and more manageable.

What does Advokit offer?

  • A list of 20+ recommended disability benefits that people can apply for
  • Up to 10 practical tips for each benefit, with direct links to application pages
  • A stories section sharing real experiences from interviews with people with aphasia — what helped, what didn’t, and what they wish they had known
  • Read-aloud buttons across the site to support accessibility
  • A clear comparison table showing what different benefits are for, their value, and how difficult they are to apply for
  • Benefit Buddy, a live chatbot that supports drafting and writing benefit applications — messages can be read aloud and copy-pasted into forms

We are also collecting feedback to help improve the Advokit toolkit. Once people have had a chance to explore the site, we would really value their thoughts. The feedback form takes 5–10 minutes (15 short questions in total). Positive or critical feedback helps us strengthen and refine Advokit.
